There is tension on the streets of Vienna between people who want to live freely and people who feel the city is rife with moral decay. Duke Vincentio announces she is going out of town, giving control of Vienna to Lord Angelo, thinking that Angelo will enforce the long ignored morality laws that are on the books. The Duke, however, does not leave, and instead puts on a nun’s habit to observe how the city to the newly enforced law and order.
Including 12 punk songs, the Friends Academy production of Measure for Measure is a modern take on the 400-year-old play, which delves into the topical issues of gender and morality. Please be advised that this play contains mature themes. We ask that students in 8th grade and below be accompanied by a parent.
