Friends Academy Celebrates Unity Day with First Community Group Meetings

On Thursday, October 10, the Friends Academy community wore orange to honor Unity Day, part of Bullying Prevention Month. The day was also marked with the first meetings of all-school Community Groups, which bring together students and adults in all divisions to strengthen bonds across campus.


Our Friends Academy Summer Camp Programs are offers unique options to suit every family’s need. Camp sessions can be four to seven weeks. Families have the flexibility of which weeks their child will attend.

The Summer of Exploration (3-7 years old)

Our Summer of Exploration Program enrolls boys and girls (Ages 3-7) and offers a diverse program of activities including the arts, athletics and STEM activities.  The Summer Exploration Program is made up of two divisions: Juniors (3-5 yrs) and Intermediate (6-7 yrs).  Juniors (Ages 3-7) have a 4:1 camper to staff ratio and Intermediate (Ages 6-7) has a 5:1 camper to staff ratio.


Campers swim twice a day and receive swim instruction from our Red Cross certified staff.


Our STEM programs allow campers to develop their critical thinking skill, build interest and knowledge that campers can take with them into the classroom and beyond. Oh and sometimes, we get a little messy too!


Our Arts Program includes hands-on activities such as woodworking, ceramics, painting, jewelry making, and other original projects. Our campers enjoy a music program that includes an original stage production.


Mini Day Option: 3 to 5 years old campers may register for either a full day or the mini day which ends at 1:30 pm. Mini Day Campers can utilize transportation in the morning but must be picked up in the afternoon by a parent or care-taker.

Special Days: Carnival Day, Field Day, Water Day, Themed days, as well as performances and appearances by professional entertainers are just a few examples of special events that take place every Friday

The Summer Academy (8-13 years old)

The Summer Academy allows our campers (Ages 8-13) the freedom to design their summer! 

Campers choose an exciting program of interest each week! Click HERE to view a brief description of our 2019 program selections. Our flexible program schedule allows campers to experience different sports/electives or focus on a specific passion of theirs.


                                             Campers enjoy the many S.T.EA.M options offered each week!

Campers receive both a morning and afternoon session in a program of their choice, along with two daily swims, lunch and recreation time.

Camp Community/Ratio: Groups have camper to staff ratios that range from 8:1 to 4:1 depending on the sport or elective choice.

Leaders & Counselors in Training (14-15 years old)

Our Leaders in Training (LIT) Program helps campers learn about teamwork and leadership. This highly competitive program accepts campers who demonstrate  emotional maturity, leadership potential and motivation for training.

Year 1 LITs  are mentored by our staff and are given opportunities to be a positive role model for our younger campers. LITs learn interpersonal skills that will serve them well beyond high school and college.

 Year 1 LIT applicants must:

-Be entering the 9th Grade (September 2019)

-Submit a written application with recommendation form along with current enrollment form.

- Commit to a minimum of four (4) weeks

Summer Camp staff members will schedule an interview to discuss program placement.

Year 2 LIT applicants must:

-Be entering 10th or 11th grade (September 2019)

-Submit a written application and written reference letter along with current enrollment form

- Commit to a minimum of six (6) weeks

The Summer Camp Staff will schedule an interview to discuss internship/placement.

LITs can apply for a position in either in our Summer of Exploration (Ages 3-7) or The Ultimate Summer Experience (Ages 8-13) programs.

Due to the strong interest in this program, positions are limited. Applications are accepted beginning Dec. 1st.

Travel with Friends (Grades 5-10)

Our Travel with Friends Program offers both day and overnight trips to fun-filled destinations. Campers visit amusement parks, museums, the beach and so much more! Each week promises a new adventure! Click here to find out where we are heading next!

Outdoor Adventures (Grades 3-6 only) Our all-inclusive trip to Club Getaway (Kent, Connecticut.) is the perfect opportunity for our younger campers.  Campers participate in adventurous activities, team-building programs and enjoy exciting evening entertainment. Trip package includes: a custom-built activity schedule, Club Getaway Staff and so much more!

Summer Success Program (Grades K-8)

Our Summer Success Program is a great opportunity for students to review and enrich skills from the previous academic year as well as introduce new concepts to be learned in the upcoming year.

NYS certified teachers with diverse backgrounds offer instruction in reading, mathematics and the development of writing skills. Teachers will make learning fun by providing interesting, challenging and creative activities which stimulate and motivate students. With information supplied by the parents and the child's home school, the staff develops individual programs to meet each child's needs and support them on their road to success.


Campers attend the Summer Success Program, Monday through Thursday for one (1) hour per day.

Campers enrolled in The Summer of Exploration (Ages 3-7) will attend during the camp day.

Campers enrolled in The Summer Academy (Ages 8-13) have the option to attend prior to the camp day or during one of their swim periods. Please be advised that busing is not available for the 8:15-9:15 session therefore students must be dropped off.
