Friends Academy Junior Prom

The Junior Prom will be held Saturday, April 13 from 7:00-10:00 PM in Commons.  Pre-Prom will be held on the Quad at 6:30 PM.

While we are not charging for tickets to this year’s dance, we do ask that you RSVP by completing the following form. If you are going with a date, please submit the form one time, including the names of both attendees.

Important details:

  • Attire is “dressy” but not “formal”

  • A light dinner, beverages, and desserts will be served throughout the course of the evening!

  • The dance will be chaperoned by junior class deans and advisors

  • Students should not feel that they must have a “date” to attend–think of this event as a full class party! If a student would like to invite a non-FA student as a guest, he/she must submit a completed Guest Permission Form no later than Friday, April 5th

  • The Junior Prom (including the school sponsored Pre-Prom) takes place between the hours of 6:30 pm and 10:00 pm. Students and their guests are expected to arrive no later than 7:00 pm and to remain at the Prom, in the commons, until 10:00 pm. There may be no early departures.

  • For this special evening we ask that parents drive students and guests to and from the Prom. We are not permitting student drivers of any age to drive or park on campus. Additionally, in the spirit of simplicity and moderation, limousines will not be permitted.

Junior Prom Guidelines:

Over the years we have worked together with parents and students to ensure this event is a safe social gathering for all attendees. We believe that this event should be in accordance with our Quaker values of simplicity and moderation and that the Junior Prom should be a distinct experience from our Senior Prom. Therefore, we ask that parents refrain from hiring limousines, buying or renting expensive formal wear or hosting pre or post prom parties.

The FA Junior Pre-Prom will take place in the Quad or Library, weather depending, at 6:30pm. We invite parents to come and celebrate with us during this gathering! It will be a great chance to greet and mingle with our young people at the beginning of a very festive evening. We strongly discourage any family from hosting a “Pre- Pre-Prom” as our campus pre-prom offers ample opportunity for mingling and taking pictures. While some families may decide to host a Post Prom gathering, we want to advise that there are always concerns about post-prom plans. Please keep in mind the school’s policy about “off campus functions” as stated in the Student & Parent Handbook:

“Students and their families should recognize that along with the privilege and opportunity to attend Friends Academy goes the responsibility of representing the school positively in the community at large…. Specifically with regard to off-campus, private, social functions involving Friends Academy students, parents should always be present. Parents should feel neither guilty nor embarrassed about setting their own rules and insisting they be respected. Students should understand they are guests and behave accordingly. Alcohol or drugs should never be served to students. Parents who choose to ignore this understanding place themselves at extraordinary legal risk and jeopardize their child’s safety and continued enrollment at Friends Academy”.

Parents, please review the following ‘General Rules of Junior Prom’ with your child. Advisors and Class Deans will also go through these at a class meeting in the days leading up to the dance.

1. The Junior Prom is sponsored as an alcohol, drug, tobacco, and vape free event. Please review school policy in the Student & Parent Handbook, including the following:

“Friends Academy is a Drug, Tobacco (in any form), E-cigarette, Vaporizing devices and Alcohol free school. Use and or possession of these substances/products/devices are prohibited anywhere on the campus or at student trips, events, or a function is a violation of school policy and may also constitute a crime.”

2. Only small purses will be permitted into the party. Larger bags will need to be stored with chaperones for the evening.

3. All school rules for behavior apply to all attendees–including outside guests–of this event.

4. All students are expected to remain in the Commons for the duration of the Prom. Students will not be permitted to access other areas of campus at any point during the prom.

5. Friends Academy reserves the right to remove any attendee who is demonstrating inappropriate behavior or is in violation of these rules. In this event, the Friends Academy Parent will be contacted and required to pick up their student and, should they have one, their student’s guest.

Thank you for your support of this special evening for our juniors.
