Who can donate?
Anyone 16 or older and who is at least 110 lbs.
What should I bring?
Photo ID or Blood Donor Card (if you don't have a photo ID, you must bring a Student ID form that has been authorized by school personnel)
Parental Permission form (for 16-year-old donors), which must be authorized by school personnel
How should I prepare?
Eat a full breakfast
Hydrate with water
ALYx donors needed
Additionally, women who are at least 5'5 and 150 lbs. and men who are at least 5'1 130 lbs. can donate invaluable red blood cells. The procedure takes 5 to 10 minutes longer and utilizes a smaller needle than the traditional donation. The ALYx procedure extracts red blood cells and returns your platelets and plasma. If you are interested, please ask a technician at the Blood Drive.

Friday, March 1st is an all-school dress down day.
This year the Faculty/Staff Appreciation Luncheon will be held on Monday, February 25, 2019 and Parent Council is asking parents to donate nut-free desserts. The 27th Annual Dinner and Auction
Friday, April 5th at 7 p.m. at the Garden City Hotel!
The Auction is a significant fundraiser for our school and we rely upon your participation to ensure its success. We encourage you to participate in and support the Auction in any way that suits you. There are many ways to support the event including:
- Event Sponsorship – financial support enhances the event's success, and sponsors are recognized on the invitation, at the event, and in the journal;
- Item Donation – vacation packages, unique experiences, and sporting events are just some of the items we encourage our community to donate or procure. We are also seeking contributions of original artwork from the community. Check out our wish list for other ideas!
- Journal Advertisements – personal or business ads are welcome
- Volunteer – join a dynamic group of volunteers who are dedicated to making the Auction possible

We invite second grade parents to join us for this year's Learning Celebration on Friday, March 1st at 8:30 am in the classroom.

The 8th grade departs for their outdoor education trip on Wednesday, February 27th and will return on Friday, March 1st.
For parents of students interested in rowing with Spring Crew, there is a meeting on Thursday, March 7th from 6:45pm to 7:45pm at Sagamore Rowing, located at 69 Hamilton Avenue, Oyster Bay, NY 11771.
We are excited to provide Upper School Students (Grades 10-12) with the opportunity to enroll in SAT or ACT Prep Courses with leading college admissions expert, Dr. Jonathan Chiu. Dr. Chiu is a former Princeton Review ACT & SAT Content Director and has worked with many FA students throughout the years.Eligible families are encouraged to apply for our Diversity Grant to assist with the cost of the program. All Upper School parents are invited to join us for the Upper School Parent Council meeting on Wed. Feb. 27 at 8:15 a.m. in the Jackson House.
Join Upper School students for Battle of the Classes, Wednesday, February 27th at 4pm. Grades 9 – 12 are welcome to participate.
Spring sports will begin on Monday, March 4th, with the exception of Tennis, which begins on March 11th.
Please ensure that:
Physical exam is up to date (within one year of March 1st).
Parent Consent letter is signed (digitally, only necessary if you haven’t played a fall or winter sport).
Concussion letter is signed (digitally, only necessary if you haven’t played a fall or winter sport).
Interim Form (must be signed digitally every season – will be live on Feb. 13th).

Our US Academic Pathways presentation for parents and students in Grades 9 through 11 is March 6th at 7:30 p.m. In Dolan Center basement level, band room, this meeting 7:30pm meeting will follow the student meetings about course selection and offerings for the 2019-2020 school year. Details will be in a reminder email beforehand. The meeting is optional prior to meetings with the academic counselor and college advisors.
