WLC EXCHANGE PROGRAM

Travel and Homestay – Colegio El Monte, Málaga, Spain

Calling all Spanish students to check out our Travel Exchange Trip to Spain in March and April 2019!

New friends, new experiences, and an unforgettable trip to Spain! Building on our strong partnership with the Colegio Sagrada Familia El Monte in Málaga, Spain, we have invited a group of Málaga students to visit with us March 15-25, 2019. In April, Friends Academy students will travel to Spain, visiting Madrid, Toledo, and Seville before heading to Málaga for a 6-day stay with host students who visited us in March. In Málaga, students will spend time with the host families, attend some classes at Colegio Sagrada Familia El Monte, and participate in excursions including a day trip to Granada. Part tour, part homestay exchange, this is truly a very special Spanish adventure! Your Spanish teacher will be sharing details with you this week of how to apply for this Travel and Homestay program.

  • Initial applications will be due Monday, November 5th; deposits for the Travel and Homestay program students will be November 14th. There is a cap of 13 students for this experience.

  • Trip leader and chaperones for this trip are Señor Edgar Posada and Señora Ruth Lloves. Señoras Sara Pozzi and Polly Duke are the trip coordinators.

  • An informational session will take place Monday, Oct. 29th at 6:30 p.m. in Señora Sara Pozzi's classroom on the second floor of the library.

WLC TRAVEL PROGRAM

Food & Art in France

Over April break, 2019, thirty FA students and five chaperones will travel to Paris, Normandy, and the south of France studying FOOD and ART. Throughout the trip, we will take cooking lessons, sketching tours, and art lessons while discovering the culinary and artistic influences of each region. We will be staying in beautiful and safe hotels in Paris and Aix-en-Provence. An outstanding travel company, ACIS, will provide 24 hour support and guides to each destination.

  • Please consider joining us for an informational meeting on Monday, October 29th at either 6 p.m. or 7:30 p.m. in Dr. Duke's room, Frost 316. Because of the large number of students interested in the trip, we will offer two informational meetings. Please pick the one that is most convenient for you and RSVP to me your preferred time by email. We have a great deal of enthusiasm for this trip, and I want to make sure that there is room for everyone as we get the ball rolling! Hope to see you next Monday. If you are very interested and cannot make the meeting, please let me know.

  • Meanwhile, feel free to peruse our itinerary.

  • Please remember that the Diversity Grant Fund is available should the price be a squeeze for your family. Frankly, no matter what, traveling to and from Europe and living in hotels with breakfast and dinner included is going to be relatively pricey. I worked hard to keep the cost close to $4000.

Looking forward to seeing as many of you as possible next Monday the 29th –
at 6 p.m. or at 7:30 pm. in Frost 316!

This school year, from January 23rd to January 29th 2019, a group of students from our Shanghai partner school is coming to visit us. During their visiting period, the Chinese students will stay with FA families and shadow their FA partners during the school hours.
