One reason this “Challenge” is on the webpage is to cut down on the use of paper.
Chemistry Challenge #2 ...............................................Chemist________________________
Instructions: Work with another chemist (i.e. a student at FA) until you both come to consensus with all your answers. Visit the science office to see the correct answers, or wait a few days and the answers will appear in the blanks on this worksheet.

Here are some crucial environmental molecules: H2O CO2 CO SO2 NOx O2 O3 N2 CH4,
and here is some OZONE information:
The stratosphere is Earth’s upper atmosphere.
This may sound strange, but in the stratosphere the temperature rises as you get higher. The energy to raise the temperature comes from exothermic reactions which are caused by UV (Ultra Violet radiation) energy from the Sun.
One important reaction shows that Oxygen gas + UV energy produces Ozone gas:
O2 + UV ---> O3
This reaction is important because it is the Ozone (O3) that filters the UV rays from the Sun so that they do not reach the surface of Earth where we humans stand (and sit and lie down).
Too much UV rays from the Sun can initiate skin cancer (bad).
