Boys Varsity Basketball win Regional Championship
Set to play I Prep in state semi-finals this Friday
LOCUST VALLEY – The FA Boys Basketball Varsity Basketball Team competed in the Southeast Regional Championship game against Tuckahoe this past Saturday at SUNY Farmingdale. The Quakers prevailed 49-44 in an exciting and well played game against a solid Tigers team that represented Westchester and was ranked number 2 in the state.
Tied at halftime, the Quakers opened up a 6-point lead heading into the 4th quarter. The lead was quickly taken back by the Tigers, but Friends regained the lead through a solid team defensive effort and a career best scoring night from junior Marc Godlis of Sands Point, who finished with 25 points (8 in the 4th) and 11 rebounds. It was a great team effort and the Quakers look to continue their solid play in the state semi-finals against I Prep from Buffalo.
The game is at 5:00 PM Friday, March 18 at the Civic Center in Glens Falls. The Finals will be Saturday, March 19 at 7:15 p.m. at the same venue.
