FRIENDS ACADEMY IS committed to providing the highest quality Arts Education for all of our students. We offer well-rounded programs staffed by top caliber faculty. The Arts at Friends Academy are divided into three departments: Music, Theater & Dance, and Visual Arts. Students begin their journey in the arts as they enter the school in playgroup, and their experience grows and develops as they do, right through our most advanced Upper School classes such as Advanced Performance Studies, AP Music Theory and AP Studio Art Portfolios.
In addition to the curriculum presented in the classroom, the Arts come alive in a variety of ways. Student artwork hangs in various locations around the school and each division culminates the school year with student art exhibits in our professional gallery. The music program produces concerts in all three divisions. Central to the Middle School arts experience is Arts Week, which includes a theatrical production involving over 70 students. The Upper School offers a full theatrical season developed to provide students with a variety of opportunities both onstage and off.
The arts curriculum at Friends Academy is enhanced by exhibitions in our gallery featuring professional artists, performances on our stage by renowned professional companies, and field trips to take advantage of the world-class cultural offerings in and around New York City and the world.
