Years at Friends: 8
Why do you love teaching?
I love teaching language, literature, and culture. And I love the students.

Why did you become a teacher?
I wanted to make a difference in students' lives - both inside and outside of the classroom. I hoped to participate in both the intellectual and the moral development of adolescents. I liked the idea of becoming a life-long learner myself.

What would your students say about you?
She's smart, enthusiastic, knowledgeable, fair, and funny. She also plays a mean banjo.

Why Friends?
I chose Friends for many reasons, but primarily because I loved the community and its Quaker principles.

Favorite Quotation:
"Science is organized knowledge. Wisdom is organized life." (Kant)

Favorite Book: Impossible choice... between Atonement (Ian McEwan) and Le Chef-d'oeuvre inconnu (Balzac)

How many songs have you downloaded on iTunes? 7,174

Do you have a pet?
A chocolate Labrador retriever named Hazelnut Coffee with One Percent Milk or Hazel for short.

What is your favorite word and why?
The French word pamplemousse because it makes a grapefruit sound funny and fabulous

Anything Else?
I taught at Phillips Academy, Andover for three years and at Columbia University for ten years before coming to Friends. I like it here best!
