Step 1: Inquire
Complete the On-line Inquiry Form or call the Admissions Office at 516-676-0393 to request Admissions literature.
Step 2: Visit Campus
Attend an Open House or schedule an appointment to tour the school. Please visit our Admissions Calendar for more info.
Step 3: Apply
Submit applications for Admission between October 1 and January 22. Late applications are processed only if there are available spaces. NOTE: Applicants for Play Group, Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten must be the appropriate age (three years old for Play Group, four years old for Pre-Kindergarten, five years old for Kindergarten) by September 1st of the year they will enter Friends. Click here to download an Application Form. Applicants for Grade 6 and above must also complete the Student Questionnaire.
Step 4: Interview
The Admissions Office will schedule an interview and testing for Lower School candidates and their parents, and interviews for Middle and Upper School candidates and their parents. All interviews take place between January and March.
Step 5: Testing
Early Childhood and Lower School testing occurs during interviews. For Grades 6 through 12, applicants must take the SSAT (Secondary School Admissions Test) at Friends Academy or another local test center. Applications are available from the Admissions Office, by calling SSAT directly at 609.683.4440, or online at www.ssat.org. Visit the SSAT site for test center listings.
Step 6: Financial Aid
Submit applications for financial aid (Parents’ Financial Statement) to the School and Student Service for Financial Aid (SSS) and a copy of the application and W-2 statements to the Admissions Office by February 1. See also "Financing Your Friends Academy Education".
Step 7: Submit Tax Documents
Submit copies of your 2009 Federal Form 1040 and State tax returns to the Admissions Office by March 1.
Step 8: Notification
Friends Academy will notify families of Admissions decisions in March.
Step 9: Transportation
Apply to local school district for transportation by April 1.
Friends Academy will:
Request records and recommendations from current school.
Contact families to arrange parent/student interviews, screenings and visits.
