Junior Edition K-12
This periodical database, designed for middle school students, contains articles from magazines, newspapers and reference books for information on current events, the arts, science, popular culture, health, people, government, history, sports and more.

Lexis Nexis Scholastic
Full text of major newspapers, wire service stories, television and radio broadcasts, and foreign language news.

New York Times Historical Database
The full text of virtually every article that ever appeared in The New Times, from 1851 to 2001. Select this database from the ProQuest Direct database pull down menu.

Annals of American History Online
A year-by-year chronicle of American thought and action. All entries are primary source documents; speeches, writings, memoirs, poems and interviews. This is a digital version of the standard American history reference work of the same name.

ARTFL
This site provides access to the Main ARTFL Database, comprising 1,880 French texts from the12th to the 20th centuries as well as the ARTFL Encyclopedia and a variety of other dictionaries and databases on French literature.

Country Watch
Up-to-date demographic, political, economic, social, corporate, cultural, and environmental information and real-time news on the 192 countries of the world. A "Curriculum Corner" is also available for classroom use.

Culture Grams
Information on the lifestyles and customs of 182 different countries. Also includes a Photo Gallery of images representing 47 countries, a Famous People Index containing biographies on countries' best known people and a Recipe Collection containing native recipes from every country in Culture Grams.

Dialog
Dialog provides access to over 600 scholarly, scientific, education and general information databases from one web site. Students who have tried unsuccessfully to locate information using other databases should consider using Dialog. Many of these databases do not provide the full text of articles. The library will be happy to place an inter-library loan for the full text of articles you need. These databases can only be accessed from campus computers and with the assistance of a librarian or faculty member.

Facts for Learning
An easy to navigate academic web site for students in grades 2-5. It contains a variety of reference sources including The World Almanac for Kids, The Wordsmyth Children's Dictionary, The Weekly Reader, and a Homework Corner geared to subjects frequently included in elementary school curricula.

Gale Student Resource Center Bronze
A fully integrated database containing thousands of primary documents, biographies, topical essays, background information, critical analyses, full-text coverage of 200 magazines, over 10,000 photographs and illustrations.

Grove Dictionary of Art Online
A comprehensive resource for all aspects of the visual arts worldwide from prehistory to the present day.

Health Science Database
Includes magazine and journal articles, pamphlets, newsletters, newspapers, and full text of medical reference books.
This database can only be accessed from campus computers.

Issues & Controversies in American History
In-depth explorations of the great issues in American history such as religious freedom in the colonies, Civil War reconstruction and women's suffrage, are presented in concise and balanced articles. Articles are supplemented by primary source documents, biographies, timelines, images, statistical charts and encyclopedia survey articles.

JSTOR (Journal STORage)
A full text digital archive of over 100 core scholarly journals, starting with their very first issues. JSTOR covers subjects mainly in the Humanities, Science and Social Sciences. The collection covers material from the 1800s up to between 1 and 8 years before current publication. This full text database is recommended for students doing college level work. Streaming video tutorials on using the archive are available on the site.

Twayne's Authors Series
Contains the full text of the Twayne Literary Masters books which provide biographical and literary criticism information on a wide variety of American, British and world authors.
This database can only be accessed from campus computers.

World History: Ancient & Medieval Eras
A collection of information covering human history in all corners of the globe from prehistoric times to the beginnings of the Renaissance. Hundreds of primary source documents, secondary sources, profiles of over 400 city-states, countries, and regions of the ancient world, interactive timelines and biographies of important figures.

Works Cited Assistance
Noodle Bib
This online tool guides students through the process of creating a Works Cited list. Noodle Bib takes care of punctuation, alphabetization and formatting, producing a properly formatted list for import in to a Word document. You will have to create a "personal folder" the first time you use this online tool.
