The Environmental Action Plan of the Green Campus Committee focuses on the following five broad objectives:
  1. Reduce, Reuse, Recycle Program
Established plan for reduction in paper usage, buy recycled 100% paper and products, recycle paper, cardboard, plastics and technology related items, support various recycling community service projects, strive to be a zero waste school.

  2. Environmental Health
Follow NYS Green Cleaning Guidelines for non-toxic products campus wide, established a No Idling Policy to limit emissions exposure and air pollution, paint the school with zero volatile organic compound paints, reduce and manage use of indoor and outdoor pesticides, promote use of natural resources and ecological practices.

  3. Energy Conservation
Promote energy actions for community, purchase energy star and energy efficient products, work to implement conservation measures.

  4. Environmental Education
Weave sustainability into the curriculum in all three divisions, use methods to keep all campus groups informed of initiatives, provide speakers and opportunities for community and student driven events, utilize the campus grounds and buildings as a teaching resource.

  5. Building Design & Materials
Promote green building design and renovation as well as the replacement of materials and furnishings with greener alternatives.
The Green Campus Committee acts as the school’s barometer for improving our environmental track record. Each objective requires essential ingredients to produce change or an impact such as, gathering and use of data, conducting audits and drawing conclusions. The result is a list of short and long term initiatives to undertake.
