Welcome to Martinique!

Hi! My name is Jubert Michael, I'm seventeen years old and I live in Rivière-Pilote. I would like to tell you about Martinique and I have chosen to speak about the wonderful beaches!

Most people know that Martinique is a beautiful island; indeed, tourists like it here because they can rest and have a good time. They usually enjoy their stay here! The beauty of our beaches is also underlined by their sunny side; indeed the sun shines almost all year round, to the great pleasure of tourists! Besides, the beaches are wonderful for many things other than swimming; people practise sporting activities like surfing, beach soccer and so on… In other words, the beach is a very attractive place to be. Have a look at that beautiful sunset on one of our beaches!

On medical grounds, doctors argue that the water and the sand have medicinal virtues and the example of little outings to the beach for the disabled proves it. As a matter of fact, going to the beach is a way for them to express themselves and relax. Besides, sometimes at night when it isn't very lively outside people enjoy walking on the beach and breathing in the fresh air.

Martinique is also a wonderful destination because of its monuments, landscapes, sight-seeing tours and so on… However, you will notice that some beaches are more attractive than others. If we take the example of Diamond Beach, you will discover that there are strong and potentially dangerous waves, which is why you find a lot of surfers there. Diamond Rock also attracts scuba-divers. As for the beaches of Sainte-Anne, the fine sand, excellent restaurants and pleasant atmosphere make them the most famous of all the southern beaches.

There are various species of fish on the island, which is why tourists always leave Martinique with postcards representing the different beaches and the different species of fauna that make the island so special.

As far as I am concerned, I feel incredibly lucky to live in Martinique. I love my island and I am sure that anybody who visits it will appreciate it too.

I have spoken of some of the beautiful beaches, but I could also have mentioned the extraordinary variety of flowers, the numerous rivers and mountains and the delicious Creole meals that Queen Martinique offers us.
