VARIOUS
ASPECTS OF CARNIVAL

The recently created
Applied Arts School showed a series of floats representing various regions
from around the world, including Oceania and Africa. The procession also
included a Moulin-Rouge display, featuring the Can-Can, and splendid,
imposing and original advertising floats, lucky finds from the Carnival
in Trinidad. A singing contest was organised with substantial prizes offered.
Several committees were formed to resuscitate the Carnival, including
the first folk group with Alexandre Nestoret. Later, several folk groups
appeared in Fort-de-France and the district.
